Adios 2017!

Gorgeous winter wonderland weddings... dreamy Hawaiian engagement sessions... incredibly joyful and kind families.... adorable puppies...and awesome seniors- 2017 has been a wonderful year full of wonderful clients. I'm so thankful for all the new clients I was able to work with this year and for the ways that I have grown as a photographer and business owner. To all of you who made this year my best yet...THANK YOU! I feel truly blessed :)

This past year I also became a mother of two and found myself re-learning how to balance my business and mom life. I strive to never take for granted the time that I'm gifted with them and I'm also incredibly thankful that this job does allow me the flexibility to work from home a lot too.

I'm ready to greet 2018 and the new adventures it will bring!

2016 Year in Review

As we wrap up another trip around the sun, I just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all my clients from this past year! 2016 has been a wonderful year of growing my business and I've worked with some of the most wonderful people. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to live in a beautiful place and use the gifts God has given me to bless others. I celebrated my 6th anniversary for my business and look forward to the ways it will continue to grow and change this next year.

In my personal life, 2016 has been such a good year! My husband was hired on for a new job which he absolutely LOVES and he finished his second to last semester of grad school..hooray! Our little guy Malachi turned 2 and continues to bless us with his joy, curiosity, playfulness, snuggles and absolute silliness. (Some of the things this kid says!) We were able to do some traveling closer to home this year, mostly to visit family in New Mexico, Indiana, Hawaii and Montana. And our big announcement...we'll be expecting a new little Hendrickson to join the clan May 2017!

I thank God for all that he has blessed me with this past year and look forward to the good things that will come in 2017. It's a few days early but....HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here are a few of my favorite moments captured this past year... {click a photo to expand the gallery!}

Ethan & Louise {engagement}

Fall Engagements might just be my favorite! I love the colors, the crispness in the air, the flannel .. and of course.. the LOVE!

Ethan and Louise had the most epic proposal story ever!! (If you haven't heard it yet...just ask Ethan for the link to the's pretty awesome!) From Louise on their proposal: "That moment when you are suspended 200ft above a river in a beautiful canyon and hear four incredible words..."Will you Marry Me?"

Wow, right? I think anyone who starts off with that kind of awesomeness is sure to have a super solid marriage :)

Even though we didn't go quite so epic for your engagement pictures I love that you guys wanted to incorporate something you both love into the shoot. You guys are adorable and I'm super psyched to be a part of your wedding this winter! Congrats!!

Kenzie {senior portrait}

It was an absolute JOY to photograph Kenzie over the weekend. Her momma tagged along for the shoot and the mother/daughter dynamic was so fun :) Kenzie is a (obviously!) natural beauty. Full of sass. Basketball star. Basically...she made my job incredibly easy. Good luck with your senior year, Kenzie!

Travis & Brittany {Colorado Wedding}

What defines the perfect wedding...nice weather, delicious food, awesome venue, the and friends in attendance, beautiful flowers, good music...etc etc.. ?

Or is the feeling of the day?

"The bride eagerly anticipates seeing the ceremony where she'll meet her groom"

"The groom is so overjoyed when he sees his bride that is eyes are full of emotion"

Of course, we all hope the weather will hold up and the bride doesn't spill anything on her white gown...but at the end of the day- it's about the joining of two people and the beginning of their new life together.

Travis and Brittany's wedding was even more than a celebration of their commitment to each other...but a celebration and PROCLAMATION of God and his GREAT Love for HIS bride...The Church. The bride (the church) eagerly anticipates seeing her groom....and the groom (Christ) loves and cherishes his bride.

What a beautiful day Travis & Brittany...thank you for asking me to be a part of it.

Adam & Karina {wedding}

We COULD NOT have asked for a more beautiful day for Adam and Karina's Spring Wedding. For March in Colorado, we could have had 2 feet of snow....but instead we got 63 degrees, warm and sunny and completely perfect.

I'm so glad these two asked me to capture their wedding day. The complete joy that emanates from Adam and Karina when they're around each other is so sweet to witness. It's obvious that they'd been anticipating this day for a long time.

The day started off with a special gift from Adam to Karina (the beautiful pearl necklace she's wearing!) and ended with a bridal party (sporting funny socks and converse shoes) dancing the night away...I think it's safe to say the day was perfect.

Here's to many happy years to you both!

Johnston Family {studio portrait}

I LOVE this family. Billy and Jess are such awesome parents. You can really tell how much they adore their kiddos and their whole family dynamic just rocks. And how cute are their kids?????Also....this whole set up was basically their idea..SO FUN!

I also really enjoyed getting to shoot this family portrait in a studio! Ambiente' is a new community space in Fort Collins and a great place to do some warm and cozy winter portraits :)

Adam & Karina {Engagement}

This Arizona girl and Colorado guy are gettin' hitched in March! So excited I get to be a part of their first day as husband and wife :) Adam and Karina- you guys are so sweet. I love how much Adam makes you laugh, Karina (and how he worked hard to keep you warm during our are such a trooper!). It's just so obvious you two are in love. Excited for your wedding day! Thanks for braving the cold and the snow with me to get these pics!

Leduc Family {Fort Collins Family Portrait}

One of my favorite things about my job is watching families grow year after year. This sweet family of 5 will soon be adding one more kiddo to the mix in February! Aaron and Karla and their 3 littles are  very dear to my own family. We love being part of a bigger church family but our deeper connections exist in smaller group settings- ours being led by the Leducs. I feel so lucky to be a part of their lives and CAN'T WAIT to meet their newest little boy :D

My own little guy loves watching these 3 crazy kids run around (and they are so sweet to him- always giving him toys to play with and giving him hugs). So precious.

We're blessed to know you, Leducs! Love you guys!

Lindsay & Justin {Colorado Wedding}

An October wedding outside in Colorado??? It might sound crazy but it was a risk last weekend's bride and groom were willing to take and I'm so glad they did! We had an absolutely GORGEOUS day! The weather could not have been more perfect (thanks largely in part to multiple family members prayers!) and every little detail made Lindsay & Justin's wedding truly magical.

Their ceremony and reception took place at Windrift Farm (Lindsay's parent's home), and with many beautiful DIY decorations, a food truck catered reception and a "Chuck Taylor" wearing bridal was a true Fort Collins wedding :D

One of my favorite parts of the wedding day is hearing stories told about the couple during either the ceremony, toasts, or just catching snippets of memories from family and friends. My favorite thing I learned about Lindsay & Justin wasn't that they met on an online dating site, or that Justin wanted to marry Lindsay despite her 3 cats.... but just how truly meant for each other these two are. They couldn't stop smiling at each other or holding hands the whole day.... as it should be!

Hope you two are enjoying your honeymoon in are a few teasers from your sweet day!

Malachi {personal}

You like holding my hand and giving me lots of kisses (especially when your face is messy or your mouth is full). You like dancing and singing along with Elmo. You're favorite things are your stuffed elephant and whale and you like getting into every cabinet and cupboard available to you. You want to "help" me with everything and even though it takes twice as long, I will always cherish this time in your sweet young life.

Happy 15 months of life, sweet boy.

Mama loves you.

Elle {Senior Portrait}

I can't believe Summer is almost over and school is starting again this week. Welcome Senior Class of 2016!

Last week's senior portrait left me giddy to see the images on my computer....and left me, my assistant, and our gear a little damp as it was raining a good portion of the time we were shooting. Is it really August?

Despite the rain and the chill however, our sweet senior- Elle braved it all to make some lovely pictures with her horse, Aylah. (I have ALWAYS wanted to do a portrait with a horse!) We continued the rest of her senior session around her home, with her truck...yes HER truck....and with a beautiful backdrop that only Northern Colorado can provide :)

Elle will be finishing up high school this year and heading off to Kentucky next year to play soccer at university. Thanks for being such a trooper in the rain, Elle and good luck with your senior year!

Logan & Chip {Backyard Wedding}

I have never been on the verge of tears shooting a wedding as much as I was at Logan & Chip's (which was a good thing!). Their love for each other and for their precious little son is so apparent, it made me tear up several times throughout the evening.

Their sweet and simple backyard wedding was perfect. Homemade treats, bright and happy sunflowers, and Logan's sassy short wedding dress added to the perfect relaxed atmosphere. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Logan and Chip vowed to be a family forever.

Logan and Chip- your family is beautiful! And seriously...when can we hang out???

McKinney Family {Colorado Springs Family Portrait}

It is so fun for me, as a photographer, to watch families grow and get to see them year after year for annual photos.

The first time I took pictures for Kelli and Tom, sweet Carter was only 2. Now she's heading off to Kindergarten and they have another little lady in their family Tobin- with the most amazing blue eyes! I love having the privilege of helping families preserve just a few moments in time :)

And let me just say...Kelli picks the most beautiful locations to shoot AND brings the cutest props for her girls (she makes my job so easy). Beautiful family. Beautiful setting. Beautiful summer day!

It has been such a long time since I've photographed at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs but it never ceases to amaze me how lovely it is to shoot there :)

Kelli and Tom- as always, it is such a joy to spend a little time with your sweet family. Thank you for giving me a great excuse to come back to Colorado Springs as well! Hope to see you guys again soon!

Independence Day 2015

Oh, say can you see
By the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket's red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Happy Independence Day, everyone :D
